Jewellery box with a thousand watches

The webshop Ditur.dk has a new and elegant head office to match the company’s dynamic image.

Ditur’s success story is well known to all Danish entrepreneurs and investors. Two young twin brothers – Mikkel and Kasper Dissing – have in the space of just a few years built a constantly growing brand, and now they are investing to grow their business internationally. The company’s core products are wristwatches and accessories at prices which are affordable to all.

The new head office is located in a rustic and green industrial district south-west of Aarhus, Jutland. From the outside, the building is simple and restrained, consisting of carefully balanced facades in dark grey concrete. A recessed glass facade at ground level creates a light and welcoming entrance area.

Showroom with wow factor

The building is shaped like a floating jewellery box, housing a showroom, storage facilities and offices. The showroom is highly visible from the outside, and as soon as you park in front of the building you can sense the exclusive interior. The showroom is the heart and identity of the building – this is where all the smart watches are on display, and the expansive sales area ties the entire building together across the different floors and functions.

The architect Christina Rousing Toxværd from GPP Arkitekter says about the project:

“A good acoustic environment was very high on the client’s list of priorities. Especially in the showroom and the offices, which are linked by the double-height atrium. For the ceilings, the choice fell on Troldtekt acoustic panels because of their superior acoustic properties. The colour natural grey also beautifully complements the shades of the raw concrete walls.”

Contrasting surfaces

“In choosing the materials and colours, we wanted to create a raw environment to contrast with the refined surfaces and detailing of the ‘floating’ meeting pods. The exposed black-painted installations and the grey Troldtekt ceiling create exactly the raw look that we were after.

Instead of working with small areas of sound absorbers, we have clad the meeting pods in different sound-absorbing materials. One of these is Troldtekt tilt line which creates a light and playful look on one of the pods.

Between the meeting pods and workplaces, zones have been created with lounge environments that enhance social relations between employees and customers. The zones are strategically located so as not to disturb those working at their regular workplaces.

In connection with the inauguration of the new company headquarters, the restaurant and showroom faced the ultimate acoustic test. However, we found that the acoustics were very pleasant in spite of all the festive visitors who attended the event.”
